COOKIE POLICY

Vysoká škola technická a ekonomická v Prešove s.r.o. uses cookies and similar technologies on its website to ensure its proper, secure and user-friendly operation.

Optional cookies, such as analytical or additional cookies, are used only where you have given us the appropriate consent for their use.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that a website may store on your computer, mobile phone, tablet or other device when you visit the website.

Cookies may enable a website to remember certain user settings, ensure the proper functioning of individual features or collect statistical information about how the website is used.

Some cookies are deleted when you close your web browser, while others may remain stored on your device for a certain period depending on their purpose and configured lifetime.

2. Legal framework for the use of cookies

The use of cookies and the processing of personal data through these technologies are governed in particular by:

  • Act No. 452/2021 Coll. on Electronic Communications,
  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR),
  • Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection.

The storage of or access to information stored on a user's terminal device through optional cookies is carried out on the basis of the user's prior consent.

Exceptions include, in particular, technically essential cookies that are necessary for the transmission of communications or for the provision of a service explicitly requested by the user.

3. What categories of cookies do we use?

Essential cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for the proper and secure operation of the website.

They may be used, for example, to ensure the technical operation of the website, security, management of the user's session or storage of privacy preferences.

User consent is not required for such cookies where they are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user or to ensure the transmission of communications.

Essential cookies remain active even if the user rejects all optional cookies.

Additional cookies

Additional cookies may be used to provide enhanced website functionality or to remember certain user settings.

This category may also include technologies related to external or embedded content where their use is not necessary for the basic operation of the website.

Optional additional cookies are activated only after the user has given the appropriate consent.

Statistical cookies

Statistical cookies allow us to obtain information about how visitors use the website.

This information may, for example, help us determine the number of visits to individual pages and improve the content, functionality and user experience of the website.

Statistical cookies are activated only after the user has given prior consent.

4. Consent to the use of cookies

When visiting the website, the user is shown a panel for managing privacy settings and the use of cookies.

Through this panel, the user may decide whether to allow individual categories of optional cookies.

The following categories are used on the website:

  • Essential,
  • Additional,
  • Statistical.
Important: Merely visiting the website, continuing to use it, or changing web browser settings does not constitute consent to the use of optional cookies.

Optional cookies may only be activated after an active choice has been made by the user.

Refusing optional cookies must not prevent the user from accessing the basic functions of the website.

5. Changing or withdrawing consent

The user may change or withdraw their consent to the use of optional cookies at any time.

Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.

If the website provides an option to reopen the cookie settings, the user may use this option to change their preferences at any time.

6. Cookie panel settings

The cookie panel should allow the user to freely decide which optional cookies they wish to allow.

In particular, the user should have the option to:

  • accept all optional cookies,
  • reject all optional cookies,
  • configure individual cookie categories.

Optional cookie categories must not be pre-selected as enabled.

The option to reject optional cookies should be as easily accessible to the user as the option to accept them.

7. Managing cookies through your web browser

Cookies can also be managed through the settings of your web browser.

For example, users may delete previously stored cookies or restrict their future use through their browser settings.

Completely blocking all cookies, including essential cookies, may result in some parts of the website not functioning properly.

8. Overview of cookies and technologies used

Google Analytics may use, in particular, the following cookies:

The stated lifetimes represent the default settings of the Google Analytics service provider. The actual storage period may be shorter depending on the technical configuration of the service, the user's browser or privacy settings.

Storage of consent preferences

The website may use a technically essential cookie or other local browser storage to remember the user's choice regarding individual cookie categories.

The purpose of such storage is to ensure that the website remembers the user's privacy settings and does not require the same choice to be made every time the page is loaded.

Such technical storage of consent preferences is considered an essential technology necessary for the proper functioning of the consent management system.

Individual VŠTE pages may contain content or services provided by third parties, such as videos, maps, social media services or other external content.

These services may use their own cookies or similar technologies.

Where such technologies are not necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user, they are activated only after the appropriate consent has been given.

Updating the list: The list of cookies and technologies may change depending on the current technical configuration of the website and the services configured through Google Tag Manager.

When a new analytical, functional or external technology is introduced, this policy and, where necessary, the cookie panel settings should also be updated.
